# Multi-Currency Price Testing

***

If your store sells in more than one currency, your prices in each are probably a currency conversion of your home price rather than a decision. Multi-currency price testing lets you set and test a deliberate price for each market.

### Requirements

* A **Premium** Elevate plan, unless your store exceeds 30,000 orders per month.
* Shopify Markets configured with the currencies you want to price in.
* Everything else a price experiment needs. See [Price Testing](https://claude.ai/chat/overview.md).

### How it works

You select which currencies to include, then set a price for each variation in each currency. A visitor sees the price set for their market.

Prices are absolute values you choose, not conversions of your home price. That is the point: a price that reads well in one currency rarely converts cleanly into another.

### Setting prices per currency

At the **Add Variations** step, select each currency you want to price for. The prices table then shows a set of price fields per currency.

For more than a handful of products, set prices by CSV. Each row carries a Currency column, so one file can cover every product, variant, variation, and currency.

**Autofill and rounding.** Autofill applies its rule per currency. Rounding rounds to a whole currency unit, which is usually what you want, since a converted price rarely lands somewhere sensible.

### Currency selection targets the experiment for you

The currencies you price in decide who enters the experiment. You do not need to add a country or market filter.

Price in one currency, and only visitors shopping in that currency enter the experiment. Everyone else sees your normal prices and is not counted in the results.

Price in three currencies, and visitors shopping in any of those three enter.

Two common setups:

**Test one market.** Select that market's currency and set prices for it. The experiment runs for that market only, automatically.

**Test several markets at once.** Select each currency and price them all. You get one result across all of them, which is faster but tells you less about any individual market.

You can still add audience targeting on top if you want to narrow further, for example mobile visitors in one market. But you do not need it to scope an experiment to a market.

### Previewing each market

In the preview dialog, use **Select Market to Preview** to check each market in turn.

Confirm for every market:

* The price is the one you set, not a conversion
* The currency symbol and decimal format are correct
* The price displays correctly on mobile as well as desktop
* Compare at prices, if used, are higher than the selling price

Do not assume one currency proves the rest.

### Reading the results

Results are reported in your store's primary currency, so revenue from different markets is comparable in one number.

If you are testing several markets at once, be careful about acting on a single combined result. A price increase that works in one market and fails in another can average out to no difference, which looks like a flat result and is not.

Where you have enough traffic, run one market at a time.

### Implementing a winner

Implementing a winning variation sets a single price per variant. **Market specific prices are not written.**

If your experiment tested different prices per currency, use the result to decide what each market's price should be, then set those prices in Shopify Markets yourself.

### Common problems

| Symptom | Cause |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| A market shows the control price | No price was set for that currency in that variation |
| Prices look like conversions | The market was not given its own price, so Shopify converted the base price |
| Visitors in a market you did not price for are seeing the experiment | Check which currencies are selected. Only priced currencies enter the experiment. |
| Multi-currency options are not available | Requires a Premium Elevate plan |
