Theme Requirements for Product Price A/B Testing (Non-Shopify Plus)

This guide outlines the required theme modifications to ensure accurate price testing when using duplicate products. These steps are crucial for preventing price inconsistencies during your test.

Required Theme Changes ⚠️

Step 1: Remove Homepage Featured Product

If the product you're testing appears in a Featured Product section on your homepage, remove the entire Featured Product section for the duration of this experiment.

Step 2: Update Homepage Product Cards

If your homepage shows products in a grid or carousel, remove these elements:

• Purchase Buttons

  • "Add to Cart" buttons

  • "Buy Now" buttons

  • "Quick Buy" buttons

  • "Checkout" buttons

• Quick Shop Features

  • Quick view popups

  • Quick add overlays

  • Product option selectors

• Mobile-Specific Elements

  • Plus (+) icons for quick add

  • Floating "Add to Cart" buttons

  • Sticky purchase bars

  • Quick purchase overlays

Step 3: Update Collection Product Cards

Remove these elements from all collection pages showing the products you're testing:

• Main Elements

  • "Add to Cart" buttons

  • "Buy Now" buttons

  • "Quick Add" buttons

  • Quick shop functionality

• Mobile Elements

  • Plus (+) quick add icons

  • Floating cart buttons

  • Sticky purchase bars

  • Quick purchase overlays

Step 4: Remove Hidden Purchase Options

While purchase options on the main product page can remain, you need to address hidden purchase options on any other pages. Many themes have Modal Popups that appear when selecting product options (like size/color):

• Check for popups when clicking:

  • Product color swatches

  • Size selectors

  • Any product option buttons

• Remove all purchase buttons from these popups

• If purchase buttons can't be removed, disable the entire popup
